The Miami Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America have selected Steve Cishek as the Rookie of the Year on the Florida Marlins Staff. Steve’s statistics on the season are as follows: 43 appearances, 2-1 record, 2.73era, striking out 53 batters in 52 2/3 innings. Read the full recap of Marlins awards here.
Tim Collins threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning to earn a hold and also tie a Royals record for most appearances in a single season by a rookie reliever (68). Tim will be getting right back to the grind here at CP this Friday upon return from his first full big-league season.
After compiling a collection of honors including 2010 NEC Rookie of the Year and two-time 2nd Team All-Conference, Kevin Brown has been selected as the 2012 captain of the Bryant University baseball program as a junior. Read the full story here.

Chicago Cubs September call-up and CP client Bryan LaHair will be returning to CP for the off-season following a month of participation in the Venezualen Winter League. Bryan’s off-season plans are highlighted here on MLB.com
CP athlete and 2009 Toronto Blue Jays first-round draft pick Chad Jenkins started off the 2011 Eastern League playoffs with seven scoreless innings of 4-hit baseball for the New Hampshire Fischer Cats. In his first appearance close to home since becoming a professional, Jack Leathersich was dominant, striking out four in two innings of work for the Brooklyn Cyclones against the Lowell Spinners. In just 12 2/3 innings this season, Jack has recorded 26 strikeouts and has an ERA of 0.71.

Congratulations to Cressey Performance athlete Bryan LaHair, who was called up to the major leagues with the Chicago Cubs on Friday after an outstanding season in Triple A with the Iowa Cubs. This is Bryan’s first trip to the majors since 2008, when he made his debut with the Seattle Mariners. Click here for more information.

A big congratulations goes out to Cressey Performance athlete Corey Kluber, who made his MLB debut for the Cleveland Indians last night. Corey struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings pitched. Congratulations, Corey, on all your hard work being rewarded with a trip to “the show!”

Congratulations to Cressey Performance athlete and Chicago Cubs prospect Bryan LaHair on being named Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player for the 2011 regular season. Bryan has hit 38 HRs – tops in all of minor league baseball, and enough to give him the Iowa Cubs franchise record.
