CP Baseball Weekend Rundown
Tyler Beede (Vandelbilt) threw 7 scoreless innings against #3 Kentucky in a game that Vandy would go on to win 4-3.
Sahil Bloom (Stanford) threw 5 scoreless innings against UCLA to earn a win. Bloom: 5IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB

Ryan Flaherty (Orioles) had his first (and second) hit in a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Ryan finished the day 2-3 with his first RBI. Recap

Bryan LaHair (Cubs 1B) hit his fourth HR of the season, scoring the only Cubs run in a 5-1 loss to the Cardinals. Video
Travis Dean (Kennesaw State U.) earned his third win of the season, allowing 5 hits and two earned runs in five innings of work. Kennesaw beat Savannah State 9-4. Recap
Nick Friar (Northwestern U.) touched 90mph for the first time in his career: 5IP and 1R. Recap
Max Tishman (Lawrence Academy) threw a complete-game shutout with 16 strikeouts. Recap
John Andreoli (Cubs High-A) had another strong offensive outing, going 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base. John is now hitting .341 on the season.

LaHair’s Late-Game Heroics & More
CP Baseball Community Highlights from Tuesday’s games:
Bryan LaHair contributed late-game heroics for the second straight evening, hitting a game-tying solo HR in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Cubs ultimately went on to win 3-2 in ten innings. Cory Gearrin Promoted to Atlanta Braves
Congrats to Cory Gearrin on his promotion to the Atlanta Braves! Cory pitched 18.1 innings for the Braves during two stints in the Major Leagues in 2011. The Braves are set to play the Los Angeles Dodgers this evening at Dodger Stadium.

LaHair Sparks Late Rally & More Highlights

Solid Performances from CP Athletes of All Ages…
On Tuesday, Cressey Performers accomplished great things on the baseball field at all competitive levels:
- Steve Cishek earned a win with one inning of scoreless relief (1k) against Bryan LaHair’s Chicago Cubs. Brian contributed to the offensive effort with an RBI in a 1-for-2 effort, including one walk. Read the complete game recap here.
- Tim Collins struck out the only batter he faced after entering a 2-out, runners on first and second base situation. Unfortunately for Tim, the Royals lost for the sixth consecutive time against the Tigers.
- Jeremy Hazelbaker (Red Sox AA) went 1-for-3 with a home run in the Portland Sea Dogs 6-3 loss to the New Britain Rock Cats. Read the game recap here.
- Corey Kluber (Inadians AAA) extended his starting record to 3-0 with another solid performance against the Columbus Clippers. Corey went six innings, allowing a single run on six hits. Recap here.
- In local high school baseball, CP athlete Ryan Venditti went eight innings, striking out 10 and scattering four hits. Ryan also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth, leading Westborough to a victory over Westford in a non-league matchup.
CP Minor League Roundup
Monday was another productive day of baseball for CP’s minor league guys. With over 60 CP alums in action, a few highlights included:
- Cory Riordan pitched 3.2 innings of solid relief to earn a win for the Tulsa Drillers over visiting Corpus Christi. Cory’s performance included 4H, 1R, 1ER and 4Ks. Complete Box Score.
- Jeremy Hazelbaker put together a 2-for-5 performance for the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA-Affiliate). Jeremy had 1RBI in the 10-5 extra innings loss. Complete Box Score.

Seratelli Grandslam for Storm-Chasers
CP athlete and KC Royals AAA prospect Anthony Seratelli’s 2-for-4 performance, including a 6th inning grand slam, wasn’t enough to hold off the Albuquerque Isotopes in a 9-7 loss on Sunday. Read the complete game recap here.

Smith and Haviland Combine for 3H victory
Cressey Performance Athletes Murphy Smith and Shawn Haviland combined for a 3 hit, 3-2 victory for Oakland AA Affiliate, the Midland RockHounds. Murphy (1-0) pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits. Shawn covered the final three innings, allowing a single hit and no runs. Shawn earned the first save of his professional career.
