Eric Cressey is the president and co-founder of Cressey Performance. Specializing in athletic performance enhancement and corrective exercise, Cressey is a highly sought-after coach for healthy and injured athletes alike from youth sports to the professional and Olympic ranks. Behind Eric’s expertise, Cressey Performance has rapidly established itself as a go-to high-performance facility among Boston athletes – and those that come from across the country and abroad to experience CP’s cutting-edge methods.
Cressey received his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science through the University of Connecticut Department of Kinesiology. At UCONN, Eric was involved in varsity strength and conditioning and research in the human performance laboratory. Previously, Eric graduated from the University of New England with a double major in Exercise Science and Sports and Fitness Management.
Eric has been an invited guest lecturer in four countries and more than one dozen U.S. states, and is a presenter on the Perform Better Tour, widely regarded as the premier lecture circuit in the fitness industry. Cressey has written over 200 articles, four books, and co-created three DVD sets; these products have been purchased in over 40 countries around the world. A record-setting competitive powerlifter himself, Cressey has deadlifted 650 pounds at a body weight of 174 and is recognized as an athlete who can jump, sprint, and lift alongside his best athletes to push them to higher levels — and keep them healthy in the process.
Eric has gained notoriety among baseball players of all levels for his success in improving throwing velocity, bat speed, and sprinting speed — while markedly reducing injury rates and addressing existing injuries. In the 2008-2009 off-season alone, more than 20 professional baseball players from 14 major league organizations traveled from all over the country to Massachusetts to train at Cressey Performance.
Pete Dupuis, MBA
Pete Dupuis is the Vice President and Co-Founder of Cressey Performance. He has served as business director of CP since it was established in 2007.
An experienced soccer player and coach, Pete served as the Goalkeepers Coach for the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional HS soccer program during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He also served as the Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at the Newton Country Day School in Newton, MA from 2002 through the 2006 fall season.
Since graduating with an MBA from Babson College during the spring of 2007, Pete has been able to apply his entrepreneurial skills in helping to build Cressey Performance into the prominent strength and conditioning facility that it is today. His commitment to customer service can be seen day in and day out as he interacts closely with clients from all ages and athletic backgrounds.
Tony Gentilcore, CSCS
Tony Gentilcore is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) holding a degree in Health Education with a concentration in Health/Wellness Promotion from the State University of New York at Cortland. Recognized as one of the premier trainers in New England, Tony has established an outstanding reputation due to his no-nonsense approach to training, unique perspective on program design, and corrective exercise experience.
Gentilcore’s ability to relate closely to CP’s student athletes, aspiring professional athletes, and experienced professionals, dates back to his collegiate baseball experience. Tony was named Most Valuable Pitcher in 1996 and 1997 for Onondaga Community College (Syracuse, NY), where he was also named 1st Team all Conference and 1st Team all Region. He earned an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA where he was also named a “Division II Player to Watch” in 1998. Tony is a regular contributor to T-nation.com, and has also been featured in Men’s Health.
Additionally, Tony is an occasional guest host of The Fitcast, one of the top weekly fitness/nutrition podcasts featuring some of the top names in the fitness industry.
Christopher Howard, MS, CSCS
Chris Howard is the newest addition to the CP team. Chris has his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science and Masters of Science in Nutrition Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Chris spent the 2008 Off-Season and Training Camp as an intern with the Buffalo Bills before joining the Cressey Performance team during the fall of 2008. His main coaching experience has been with baseball players ranging from high school all the way up to the professional level. Currently, Chris is certified as a Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT), Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Massachusetts.
